Leesburg’s Economic Development Commission recognized the winners of the 2003 Annual Business Awards in Oct,16.
Market Street Coffee, in the Tally Ho Theatre building on West Market Street, won the best new business award. “The feedback we’ve gotten back from the town has been wonderful,” Said owner Pat McKinney.
Attorney Peter Burnett received the George C. Marshall Award, granted to a business owner who exemplifies community service.
“To me, the measure of a community is its commitment to the less fortunate among us,” said Burnett. “There are few things that are more meaningful than being able to help people.”
Burnett is a founding director and board member for the Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter, is a youth soccer coach, has served as chairman of the Loudoun Law Foundation and volunteered with Christmas in April.
